On a beautiful summer night, on the shore of a quiet fjord in northern Iceland, a man is brutally murdered. As the light of the twenty-four hours of the Arctic summer turns to darkness due to ash arriving from an erupting volcano, a young reporter leaves Reykjavík to investigate on her own, unaware that the life of an innocent person hangs in the balance. Ari Tór and his colleagues from the small police force in Siglufjördur struggle in an increasingly puzzling case as their personal problems push them to the limit. What secrets did the murdered man have? And what is the young journalist hiding? As the silenced horrors of the past threaten them all and the darkness grows ever more intense, a race against time begins to find the killer before anyone else dies... 'La mort blanca' is an exceptional and atmospheric thriller by one of Iceland's most important crime writers.
Ragnar Jónasson is an Icelandic author of crime fiction. He is the author of the bestselling Dark Iceland series, set in and around Siglufjörður, and featuring Detective Ari Thor.
