«La Louve et autres récits de Sicile» is a collection of short stories by Giovanni Verga, published by Folio in paperback (96 pages, in French).
Four stories set in a Sicily ravaged by malaria, in which the author portrays the struggles and misfortunes of the «vanquished of life», as he called his characters. The texts come from his books Cavalleria rusticana et autres nouvelles and Nouvelles siciliennes, by the same creator of the novel Los Malavoglia.
The French translation is by Gérard Luciani; the volume was published in 2018.
For readers with a command of French interested in Italian realism and in the short fiction of Giovanni Verga.
