«La lengua de tu madre» is Stephen Burgen's essay on swear words and insults in Europe, published by Editorial Planeta in hardback (244 pages, in Spanish).
The book explores the anger, exasperation and humour expressed in the insults of around twenty European languages. It shows how the same expression can be an offence in one country and a compliment in another, and which words are best avoided depending on the place: from English «bloody hell» to Italian «cazzo» or Spanish «¡hostia!».
