«La dette ou la vie» is the essay by Damien Millet and Éric Toussaint published by Editions Aden - Bruxelles in paperback (384 pages, in French).
The essay addresses public debt as a mechanism that has conditioned the countries of the South for decades, imposing structural adjustments that bring corruption and misery, and which after the 2007-2008 crisis also breaks into the North. It brings together experiences and citizen mobilisations to show that a real alternative to these policies is possible.
The cover indicates «Sous la direction de Damien Millet et Éric Toussaint» and the CADTM / Editions Aden imprint; it corresponds to the first edition, published in June 2011.
A read for those seeking to understand public debt from a critical perspective and to learn about experiences of citizen mobilisation.
