«La dama del alba» is the play by Alejandro Casona, published by Editorial Vicens Vives in paperback (150 pages, in Spanish).
The action is set in a rural Asturian environment and pits the force of life and love against pain and death. Casona combines fantasy and reality, legends and popular beliefs, in a poetic tone; the enigmatic figure of the Pilgrim, the «dama del alba», gives the play its title.
The work belongs to the Aula de Literatura collection; this is the 2nd, renewed edition, with colour illustrations. The edition includes an introduction, explanatory notes and work proposals.
School edition aimed at secondary school students and readers who want to discover classic Spanish theatre with didactic support.

Alejandro Rodríguez Álvarez, known as Alejandro Casona was a Spanish poet and playwright born in Besullo, Spain, a member of the Generation of '27. Casona received his bachelor's degree in Gijon and later studied at the University of Murcia. After Franco's rise in 1936, he was forced, like many Spanish intellectuals, to leave Spain. He lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina until April 1962, when he definitively returned to Spain.
