Tora, the young heroine of The Blind Veranda, has grown up. On the threshold of a difficult adolescence, subjected from birth to the curse of the small fishing community, she must confront her incestuous stepfather who has just been released from prison. A true laughing stock at school, Tora toughens up: she can be so hard and cold that she becomes frightening. She grows up cultivating her rebellion, but drama awaits her and will touch the people dearest to her heart. Soon Ciel cruel, the last volume of this trilogy which constitutes a highlight of contemporary Nordic literature, will be published in Babel.
