«Jeu de société» is the novel by David Lodge, published by Rivages in paperback format (412 pages, in French).
A managing director of an English metallurgy company in the midst of restructuring and a young academic specialising in literary deconstruction see their worlds collide when she undertakes a work placement at his firm. The novel contrasts industrial pragmatism and university criticism in Rummidge, the fictional version of Birmingham, with a humorous tone.
It is the third instalment of David Lodge's campus trilogy (The Campus Trilogy), originally published in 1988 as «Nice Work». This French edition appeared in 1991.
Suitable for readers of contemporary British fiction and academic comedy, with an interest in the clash between university and business.

David John Lodge was an English novelist and critic. He was a literature professor at the University of Birmingham until 1987, and some of his novels satirise academic life, notably the "Campus Trilogy" – Changing Places: A Tale of Two Campuses (1975), Small World: An Academic Romance (1984) and Nice Work (1988). The latter two were shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Another theme is Roman Catholicism, beginning from his first published novel The Picturegoers (1960).
