«Isabel, mujer y reina» is the biography of Isabella the Catholic by Luis Suárez Fernández, published by Rialp in paperback (342 pages, in Spanish).
The book reviews the life of Isabella the Catholic and analyses the Inquisition: the persecution of Judaizers, distrust of conversos and popular antisemitism. It explains the expulsion of the Jews in 1492 as an extreme measure against the Jewish religion, not against people, and addresses stereotypes and segregation in separate quarters.
The work was published in 1992 within the literary collection of Ediciones Rialp and has a biographical and historical character.
Suitable for readers interested in the history of Spain, the reign of the Catholic Monarchs and the Inquisition in the society of the time.
Luis Suárez Fernández was a Spanish historian, originally a medievalist, who has extended his studies to include modern and recent history. He belonged to a line of Spanish historians that are in full agreement with Francoism and by some is named a revisionist.
