«Intramuros» is the novel by Giorgio Bassani, published by Acantilado in paperback (224 pages, in Spanish).
Five portraits of Ferrara society under fascism: a young single mother, a Jewish doctor, the only survivor of the Israelite community after the deportations, a socialist militant, and a witness to the Black Brigades. Their intertwined lives show the decline of a world and the mark of political violence on memory.
First book of «La novela de Ferrara», Bassani's six-volume narrative cycle, translated from Italian by Juan Antonio Méndez Borra.
For readers of literary fiction interested in twentieth-century Italy and the historical memory of fascism.
Giorgio Bassani was an Italian novelist, poet, essayist, editor, and intellectual.
