«Ilustrísima» is the novel by Carlos Casares, published by Editorial Galaxia in paperback (112 pages, in Galician).
Set in a small Galician town at the beginning of the 20th century, the novel pits an intelligent and kind bishop against the most intransigent members of the diocesan curia, who clash over the arrival of the cinematograph. It is a hymn to the goodness and humanity of people and a defence against dogmatism and violence.
Published in 1998, it is the 11th edition and part of the Literaria / Galaxia series (no. 40).
For readers of Galician fiction and those interested in stories set in Galicia at the beginning of the 20th century.
