«I misteri di Mithra. Cosmologia e salvezza nel mondo antico» is the historical essay by David Ulansey (Edizioni Mediterranee, paperback, in Italian).
Ulansey studies the mystery cult of Mithras in imperial Rome, whose secrets were never written down. He analyses its iconography, especially the tauroctony or bull sacrifice, and deciphers it as a cosmological code about the soul's salvation before the stars. The book places this doctrine within the framework of early Christianity.
Italian translation of the original work The Origins of the Mithraic Mysteries: Cosmology and Salvation in the Ancient World, published in 1989.
For readers interested in the history of religions, comparative mythology and spirituality of the ancient world.
