«High Speed Money» is the autobiographical account by Nick Leeson and Edward Whitley, published by Goldmann in paperback (333 pages, in German).
The book reconstructs the rise of Nick Leeson, posted to Singapore as a banking employee, and how his high-risk trading ultimately ruined Barings Bank. It recounts his «golden boy» image, his unconventional methods, and the blind trust of his superiors, until losses spiralled out of control and the scandal erupted.
Originally published in 1996 as «Rogue Trader», this German Goldmann edition is from 1999 and carries the subtitle «Das Milliarden-Spiel. Wie ich die Barings-Bank ruinierte».
Will appeal to readers of real-life financial fraud cases and biographies with the pulse of an economic thriller.
