«Harold» is the novel by Einzlkind, published by Actes Sud Editions in paperback (240 pages, in French).
Harold, lonely and fearful, lives in London and fantasises about staging his suicide in the doorway. Sacked from the delicatessen, he agrees to look after Melvin, an eleven-year-old gifted child, for a week. The boy is looking for his father and drags Harold into a road trip that will change both their lives.
Translated from German by Isabelle Liber; Einzlkind is the pseudonym of a writer based in Germany.
For readers who appreciate literary road movies, impertinent humour and a lucid tone.
