«Guide de Mongolie» is the novel by Svetislav Basara, published by Les Allusifs Editions in paperback (128 pages, in French).
A writer from a «shithole country», a Dutch bishop, a Russian officer turned lama, an American journalist, a French undead man and an Italian psychoanalyst meet at the bar of the Genghis Khan Hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Between glasses of vodka, their dialogues form a philosophical farce where the only certainty is that there is none.
No. 50 of the Les Allusifs foreign literature collection; translation from Serbian by Gojko Lukić and Gabriel Iaculli. Original title: «Mongolski bedeker» (1992).
For readers of contemporary Serbian literature and satirical fiction with absurd and philosophical humour.
Svetislav Basara is a Serbian writer and columnist.
