This phonetic guide for local televisions has been prepared to propose pronunciation models for formal elocution in local televisions in Catalan-speaking territories. The conceptual basis is based on the proposal of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (1990), which expands and adapts. It includes twelve varieties: three from continental Eastern Catalan (central, olotí and tarragoní), three from insular or Balearic Catalan (Mallorcan, Menorcan and Eivissenc), five from Western Catalan (lleidatà, tortosí, valencià central, valencià meridional and valencià septentrional) and one from the Catalan enclave (alguerès). Its recipients are the speakers of local televisions, but it is also useful for those who speak before large audiences.
