Berlin, 1931. The Berlin police receive a tip from the American Bureau of Investigation: Abraham Goldstein, a New York hitman, is on his way to the German capital. Commissioner Gereon Rath is tasked with monitoring him to prevent him from committing a crime. However, murders soon multiply, and the antisemitic press is quick to blame the Jewish gangster. Amidst the political and social turmoil of early 1930s Berlin, Rath must keep a cool head to unravel this complex web. This is the third installment in the Gereon Rath series by Volker Kutscher, following 'The Wet Fish' and 'The Silent Death'.
