«Geschichten vom Franz» is the children's storybook by Christine Nöstlinger, published by Friedrich Oetinger in hardback (63 pages, in German).
It brings together everyday stories of Franz, a six-year-old boy whom almost everyone mistakes for a girl, though he manages very well. These tales feature Gabi, who gets jealous, and Elfi, a girl who prefers writing to talking, while Franz resolves misunderstandings with humour and cunning.
First volume of the «Geschichten vom Franz» series (19 volumes), within the «Sonne, Mond und Sterne» collection. Originally published in 1984.
For early readers in German and for children with an intermediate level who want to approach a classic of Austrian children's literature.

Christine Nöstlinger was an Austrian writer best known for children's books. She received one of two inaugural Astrid Lindgren Memorial Awards from the Swedish Arts Council in 2003, the biggest prize in children's literature, for her career contribution to "children's and young adult literature in the broadest sense." She received the Hans Christian Andersen Medal for "lasting contribution to children's literature" in 1984 and was one of three people through 2012 to win both of these major international awards.
