«Gerezi denbora» is the contemporary fiction novel by Inazio Mujika Iraola, published by Alberdania in paperback (136 pages, in Basque).
The novel starts from a real episode: in the Civil War, an anarchist and a priest organise the release of an archbishop detained by the CNT. Mujika Iraola links other events, true and invented, as if shooting a film, and leads the reader from Bilbao to San Sebastián, from the rear to the trenches, between comedy and drama.
Gerezi denbora was published in 1999 and is number 25 of Alberdania's Narrazioa collection. Mujika Iraola, born in San Sebastián in 1963, had previously devoted himself mainly to the short story.
For readers of contemporary narrative in Basque, with a war story that combines comedy and drama.
