«Episodi e personaggi del Vangelo» is a dictionary of Christian art by Stefano Zuffi, published by Electa (383 pages, paperback, in Italian).
It surveys the scenes and figures of the Gospel as they are represented in Christian art: it explains the symbolism of each passage, the identity of the characters, and the attributes by which painters distinguish them. Structured as a dictionary, it allows readers to look up specific episodes and learn about their iconographic tradition.
Published in 2002, it belongs to the series «Dizionari dell'arte» and is an illustrated edition. Includes an index.
For readers and scholars of Christian art who want to identify characters and Gospel scenes in works of art.
