Entre l'infern i la glòria is a novel that narrates the life and work of Jacint Verdaguer, one of the first Catalan writers, during the second half of the 19th century. The author portrays the protagonist's life as a hell and, at the same time, a double process of ascension to glory: the earthly glory of the poet and the celestial glory to which the priest aspired. The novel focuses on the last days of the protagonist's life, in 1902, terminally ill with tuberculosis, a short period in which the burning struggle between two groups of friends to influence the poet's decisions is reproduced. The action focuses on natural places or in cities and towns of Catalonia and the world, following the poet's traveling journeys through America, Europe and Africa.
