«En plein coeur» is the novel by Dutch writer Ray Kluun, published by Pocket in paperback (405 pages, in French).
Stijn and Carmen form a marriage that seems perfect. He works in advertising and declares himself allergic to monogamy: he flirts and cheats on his wife without restraint. When Carmen receives a breast cancer diagnosis, Stijn tries to cling to his life of parties, champagne and adventures, but the illness forces him to face death and his own contradictions head-on.
It is the French version of the Dutch novel 'Komt een vrouw bij de dokter' (2003). The translation is by Emmanuèle Sandron and the work won the Publieksprijs voor het Nederlandse Boek.
For readers of contemporary fiction who appreciate stories about love, infidelity and illness with a direct and humorous approach.
