«Ella, maldita alma» is a short story collection by Manuel Rivas, published by Alfaguara in paperback (168 pages, in Spanish).
The stories in «Ella, maldita alma» present souls in unexpected and humble forms: a loaf of bread, a parrot, a swarm of bees, or an electric guitar called Sirena. Between irony and melancholy, with an intimate tone, Manuel Rivas explores where the soul dwells and how life emerges even in the harshest contexts.
«Ella, maldita alma» was originally published in Galician as «Ela, maldita alma» in 1999; the Spanish edition is translated by Dolores Vilavedra and belongs to Alfaguara's Hispánica collection.
For readers of short fiction and contemporary fiction who want to approach Galician literature in Spanish translation.
