«El tabú» is the essay by Margarita Rivière and Clara de Cominges on menstruation, published by Planeta in paperback (179 pages, in Spanish).
The book starts from a dialogue between a mother and a daughter to reflect on why periods remain a silenced, uncomfortable, or unrefined topic. It analyses the prejudices and preconceptions that women and men have inherited about menstruation and calls for a more natural and open view of the female body.
The work was published in 2001 and its cover subtitle is «Madre e hija frente a la regla».
A work of interest for those who want to read an accessible essay on menstrual education, feminism, and social taboos.
