«El pueblo traicionado» is the historical novel by Alfred Döblin, published by Edhasa in paperback (563 pages, in Spanish).
In the Berlin of 1918, the novel follows characters from different social strata to show how war enriches some while driving others into misery. Döblin composes a collective fresco of the negotiations of the Treaty of Versailles and the revolution that ends the Reich's monarchy, prelude to the Weimar Republic.
Volume 1 of the collection «Noviembre de 1918», with translation by Carlos Fortea. Original title: «Verratenes Volk».
For readers of historical fiction and political narratives, with an interest in early 20th-century Germany and the Weimar Republic.
