«El porqué de las cosas» is the short story collection by Quim Monzó, published by Editorial Anagrama in paperback (144 pages, in Spanish).
In these stories, Quim Monzó observes human relationships and pushes them to extreme situations with irony and black humour. Ordinary characters face deception, impossible pacts and endings that twist expectations, while the author portrays everyday uncertainty with a dry, deliberately simple prose.
The work, originally published in Catalan in 1993 as «El perquè de tot plegat», includes a Spanish translation by Marcelo Chokle. It belongs to Anagrama's Compactos collection (number 382).
For readers of short stories and brief narrative who appreciate black humour and stories about human relationships.
