«El naturalismo y la vida moderna» is the proceedings book of the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza symposium (2006), edited by Javier Arnaldo, in paperback.

The volume brings together the papers of the symposium directed by Tomás Llorens, held in 2006, and explores the relationship of naturalism with modern life in European painting and literature, with studies on Sorolla, Galdós, the effect of Zola on painting, and the naturalist gaze.

The symposium was held on 23 and 24 November 2006. The edition includes texts translated by Gisela Escalante, Magalí Martínez and Maribel Villarino, with bibliographic references.
