«El jardín de los Finzi-Contini» is the novel by Giorgio Bassani, published by Planeta in hardback (277 pages, in Spanish).
Set in fascist Ferrara, the novel portrays the Jewish Finzi-Contini family through the eyes of a young man from the same community. His unrequited love for Micòl, the younger daughter, intertwines with the growing threat of fascism and the inability of that closed world to accept reality.
It is part of the series "La novela de Ferrara", of which it is the third instalment. The work received the Viareggio Prize in 1962.
Recommended reading for those seeking a classic of Italian literature and an approach to Jewish life under fascism.
