«El invierno del descontento» is the contemporary novel by Thomas B. Reverdy, published by Alianza Editorial in paperback (192 pages, in Spanish).
London, 1979, 'the winter of discontent': Candice, a theatre student, delivers parcels by bicycle to pay for her classes while strikes paralyse the city. An encounter with the then-unknown Margaret Thatcher during a rehearsal of Richard III awakens her political consciousness at the dawn of Thatcherism.
Winner of the 2018 Prix Interallié and finalist for the Goncourt, the work was published in French as 'L'Hiver du mécontentement' and is part of the AdN Alianza de Novelas collection.
For those who lived their youth in the seventies or want to understand the end of the welfare state, with echoes of Bowie, Pink Floyd and Sex Pistols.
