In 'Empire of Ivory', the dragon fleet is decimated by an unknown epidemic, forcing those affected to remain in quarantine. Temeraire and a small group of novice dragons are the only ones available to face France's dangerous air raids. The only solution is for Temeraire and his captain, Will Laurence, to fly to Africa in search of a cure for this mysterious plague. Will they manage to stop the invasion of Bonaparte's armies in time?
