«El fénix islamista» is the geopolitical essay by Loretta Napoleoni, published by Ediciones Paidós in paperback (144 pages, in Spanish).
Loretta Napoleoni analyses the Islamic State from its origin as the jihadist aspiration of Abu Musab al Zarqawi to its transformation into an organisation that overflows the borders of the Middle East. Against the Western image of a gang of thugs, she proposes understanding it as a new model of nationalism.
Published in 2015 within the Estado y Sociedad collection, with a translation by Francisco Martín Arribas.
For readers interested in international relations, terrorism and the reshaping of the Middle East.
