«El enigma de la Ilíada» is the historical essay by Florence Wood and Kenneth Wood, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardback (320 pages, in Spanish).
Florence Wood and Kenneth Wood defend a reading of the Iliad as testimony to early astronomical knowledge: in the Homeric poem they find signs of a precise and ordered understanding of visible space, three millennia before modern astronomy and difficult to reconcile with the idea of a sky dominated by superstition.
Translation by José Luis Gil Aristu. Original title: Homer's Secret Iliad: The Epic of the Night Skies Decoded. Published in December 2008.
For readers of the history of science, ancient astronomy and classical literature interested in alternative interpretations of Homeric epic.
