Madrid, 18th century. Francisco Barranco, apprentice to the royal locksmith José de Flores, shows exceptional skill that earns him both support and envy. Between the court, the theatre and his forbidden love for the Countess of Valdeparaíso, he ends up at the centre of the power struggles of Isabel de Farnesio and of a conspiracy to melt steel.

First historical novel by María José Rubio. Winner of the Ciudad de Cartagena Prize 2012, awarded by the Association of the Historical Novel Week of Cartagena.
