El Castaño is a children's book written by Fátima de la Jara and illustrated by Gerardo Domínguez. Published in 2000 by Editorial Luis Vives (Edelvives), this book tells the story of Macarena, who asks her grandfather to tell her a bedtime story. The grandfather tells her the story of the big chestnut tree near their house, which has shared many things with the farmers: chestnuts, shade, branches, and 100 birthdays. The text is integrated with images instead of select words, making it attractive to children.
