In 'The Melancholic Loop', Jon Juaristi offers a deep and alternative analysis of Basque nationalism, from its beginnings to the spirit of Ermua. This essay examines the legend, rumor, and myths in the light of history, revealing how Basque nationalism has consolidated its power through cultural marginalization and political subjugation. Juaristi, with exceptional prose, illuminates a gray area of the Spanish debate, offering a counter-history of the abertzale movement that challenges traditional victim-blaming argumentation. This book, which marked a before and after, returns with full honors to enrich the understanding of Basque nationalism.
