«El balneario de Battle Creek» is the satirical novel by T. Coraghessan Boyle, published by RBA in 1995, in paperback (495 pages, in Spanish).
Set in the sanatorium of Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, inventor of corn flakes, the novel satirises his therapies of severe diets, enemas and sexual abstinence. Patients seeking health, competitors from the cereal industry and eccentric doctors gather there, in a choral comedy about the obsession with healthy living.
It was adapted into a film by Alan Parker with Anthony Hopkins in the lead role. With translation by Isabel Nuñez and José Aguirre, it belongs to the Cine para leer collection.
