«El arca de Schindler» is the historical novel by Thomas Keneally, published in 1994 by Círculo de Lectores in hardback (443 pages, in Spanish).
The novel recreates the true story of Oskar Schindler, a German businessman in Kraków who during the Second World War saved more than a thousand Polish Jews by employing them in his factories. Keneally shows him as a worldly, womanising man, far from conventional heroism, who ended up risking his life to protect his workers.
Spanish translation by Carlos Peralta. The work was originally published in 1982 as «Schindler's Ark» and won the Booker Prize; in 1993 it was made into a film by Steven Spielberg.
Recommended for readers of historical fiction and accounts of the Second World War and the Holocaust.
