«Een Tafel Vol Vlinders» is the novel by Tim Krabbé, published in hardback by Uitgeverij Prometheus (89 pages, in Dutch).
The novel approaches paternal love through the relationship of a man with Bram, whom he loves like a son. The story contrasts the almost obligatory affection toward a biological son with freely chosen affection: he does not love Bram out of duty, but because he is Bram. A brief story about family bonds that do not depend on blood.
It was the official gift of Boekenweek 2009, the Dutch Book Week, an initiative of the Stichting Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek.
For readers of Dutch fiction looking for a short novel about fatherhood and family ties.
