This book is a defense of the value of political philosophy and the study of the history of political ideas. It includes Isaiah Berlin's most famous essay, 'Two Concepts of Liberty' (1958), which analyzes the two senses of political liberty: negative and positive. This edition is completed with 'The End Justifies the Means' (1922), the author's first known essay, and 'My Intellectual Path' (1996), the last given to the press, which offers an autobiographical journey on the evolution of his thought and the topics that have interested him.
