«Divino» is the novel by Luis Antonio de Villena, published by Planeta in 1994 in hardback, with 238 pages, in Spanish.
It evokes a forgotten Spain: aesthetes, cuplé songs and afternoons at the Ritz. Max Moliner, a frivolous, snobbish and modern art deco hero, dreams of a worldly and magical life until the war of 1936 turns him into a defender of the people. It alternates voices and planes: from the deliriums of Tórtola Valencia to cosmopolitan paradises and the sordid forties.
First edition, published in Barcelona within the collection Autores españoles e hispanoamericanos.
Aimed at readers of contemporary Spanish fiction interested in period portraits and cosmopolitan settings.
