«Dispatches» is Michael Herr's war chronicle, published by Vintage in paperback (272 pages, in English).
Michael Herr gathered in this book his chronicles as a correspondent in the Vietnam War, written from the front. With a style far from orthodox and close to poetry, he portrays the chaos, confusion, and unreal atmosphere of the combat zone. The work became a classic of war reporting and a direct testimony of the conflict.
Originally published in 1977, the work was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and winner of the International Press Prize; this edition is from 1991.
It is a work for readers of non-fiction, war memoirs, and literary journalism, and for those seeking a first-person chronicle of the Vietnam conflict.
