«Dios se ha ido» is a contemporary novel by Javier García Sánchez, published by Editorial Planeta in paperback (346 pages, in Spanish).
A middle-aged man is left alone and his life fills with absurd situations: nonsensical dialogues with his Filipina housekeeper, unexpected sexual encounters, and the suspicion of being spied on from the building across the street. A chess enthusiast, the protagonist tries to survive with humor a world that is slipping away from him.
The novel received the Azorín Prize for Fiction in 2003 and was published in the Autores Españoles e Iberoamericanos collection.
Recommended for readers of contemporary fiction who appreciate humor and everyday situations taken to the extreme.
