«De Nador a Vic» is the young adult novel by Laila Karrouch El Jilali, published by Columna CAT in paperback (160 pages, in Catalan).
The narrator recalls her arrival from Nador to Vic and the slow fitting into a new culture: longing for grandparents and friends from her native Morocco, financial hardship, friendship at school, participation in sports events, and the racism that surfaces when she looks for her first job. A first-person story about living between two worlds that the protagonist feels as her own.
Winner of the Premi Columna Jove 2004, published in the Columna Jove collection.
A read for young people and for those seeking stories about migration, identity, and cultural adaptation.
