«De "camisa vieja" a chaqueta nueva» is the satirical novel by Fernando Vizcaíno Casas, published by Editorial Planeta in paperback (229 pages, in Spanish).
The novel attacks those who prospered during Franco's regime and later wanted to appear as lifelong socialists, hiding their previous trajectory. The narrative combines fictional characters with real figures in a journey through Spain from 1936 to the Transition, with irony and a mordant tone.
It was first published in 1976, bears the subtitle «Crónica de una evolución ideológica» and is part of the Fábula Collection, no. 6.
For readers interested in 20th-century Spanish narrative and the political satire of the Transition.

Fernando Vizcaíno Casas (1926–2003) was a Spanish labour lawyer, journalist and writer. His writings were generally supportive of Francoist Spain. During the 1970s and 1980s he collaborated with the director Rafael Gil on a number of films that supported this point of view. He wrote ...Y al tercer año, resucitó, Niñas… ¡al salón!, De "camisa vieja" a chaqueta nueva, 1975/El año en que Franco murió en la cama, and Viva Franco, con perdón, between others.
