«Das kurze Leben der Sophie Scholl» is the historical biography by Hermann Vinke, published by Maier in paperback (189 pages, in German).
It reconstructs the short life of Sophie Scholl, a German student who took part in the resistance against National Socialism within the Weisse Rose group. The work combines the biographical account with an interview with Ilse Aichinger and brings readers closer to a significant figure of the opposition to the Nazi regime.
It belongs to the «Mädchen & Frauen» collection and was recognised with the Buxtehuder Bulle (1980), the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis (1981) and the Jane Addams Children's Book Award (1985).
For young readers interested in the history of National Socialism and in the figures of the German resistance.
