«Daoíz y Velarde, héroes del 2 de mayo» is the children's history book by Esteban Rodríguez Serrano, published by Ediciones El Rompecabezas in paperback.
Spring has arrived in Madrid, but instead of flowers, French soldiers sprout: Napoleon has invaded Spain. The kings have fled and the ministers bow to the invaders while the people of Madrid seek an answer. Daoíz and Velarde command not ships but cannons, and with their shots they call on the neighbours to defend the homeland.
It is number 40 in the Sabelotod@s collection. Published in Spanish, with 128 pages, in its first edition of 2008.
For readers aged 9 and up who want to discover the history of Spain through the deeds of Daoíz and Velarde.
