«Crítica de la modernidad» is the philosophical essay by Xavier Rubert de Ventós, published by Editorial Anagrama in hardback (222 pages, in Spanish).
The essay starts from «De la modernidad» (1980) to review the limits and myths of modernity —future, desire, sign, text— without appealing to postmodernity. Faced with the saturation of artistic novelties, ideological messages and corporate images, it proposes personal experience as a diagnosis of the intimate crisis that modernity produces.
It belongs to Anagrama's Argumentos collection (no. 206). First edition: 18 April 2006.
For a general audience interested in philosophy, sociology and critique of contemporary culture.
Xavier Rubert de Ventós was a Catalan philosopher, writer and politician.
