«Contra la igualdad de oportunidades: Un panfleto igualitarista» is the essay by César Rendueles, published by Seix Barral in paperback (368 pages).
The essay champions material equality over so-called equality of opportunity, which it considers elitist, and defends an egalitarian programme with concrete proposals. It covers areas such as education, work, culture, family and gender, and illustrates the arguments with references to film, literature and TV series.
The book belongs to the Los Tres Mundos collection from Seix Barral. The author, a sociology professor at the Complutense University, wrote it between the 15M movement of 2011 and April 2020.
It is aimed at a general audience interested in sociology and inequality, with examples drawn from popular culture.
