«Clever Girl: Growing Up in the 1950s» is Brian Thompson's memoir, published by Atlantic Books in paperback (256 pages, in English).
Brian Thompson humorously reconstructs his youth in postwar England, from military service in Kenya, an encounter with Idi Amin, his admission to Trinity College, Cambridge, and rock and roll. All to achieve the ordinary life that an unorthodox childhood and eccentric parents seemed to deny him.
It is the sequel to «Keeping Mum» and the second part of the author's memoirs. Published in 2007 by Atlantic Books.
For readers of memoirs and coming-of-age stories with humor, especially those who have already read «Keeping Mum».
