«Claustrofobia: La vita contemplativa e le sue (d)istruzioni» is Aldo Maria Valli's essay, published by Chorabooks in paperback (93 pages, in Italian).
It denounces that contemplative life in Catholic monasteries is endangered by the ecclesiastical hierarchy itself. Aldo Maria Valli studies the constitution Vultum Dei quaerere and the instruction Cor orans, which, in his view, threaten autonomy and enclosure. The author criticises a social spirituality that does not value exclusive devotion to God.
Aldo Maria Valli is a journalist and writer, a Vaticanist; the work was published in Italian on 6 January 2019.
For readers interested in the debate on the current Catholic Church, monastic life and the defence of tradition.
