In 'Celia at School,' Elena Fortún introduces us to Celia, a curious and intrepid girl from Madrid, who is taken to a boarding school by her parents. Afraid of being forgotten by her reader friends, Celia invites us to visit her on Sundays in the school's visiting room. Through her stories, we learn about her difficulties in adapting to the silences and strict rules of the school, as well as her loneliness in the face of her family's long journey.
This work, originally published in 1934, is part of the Gálvez family series and offers a chronicle of the life of a Madrid family during the most turbulent years of the 20th century. Elena Fortún, creator of Celia, gives us an extraordinary and faithful vision of characters who never quite adapted to the modern world.
